Wood Ducks stay at #1 in the latest NJCAA rankings
The Century College Volleyball team had a successful week and remained as the #1 ranked team in the latest NJCAA DIII poll. The Wood Ducks defeated Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday, September 6, Ridgewater College on Friday, September 8, and MN State - Fergus Falls on Saturday, September 9. As usual there were contributions from everyone on the team. Freshman Lexi Helmin received recognition for the second time as the MCAC Southern Division player of the week for her efforts. She finished with 24 kills on 43 attempts with only 3 errors. She also had 9 blocks. Sophomore Jamie Ihfe also was impressive with 22 kills on 57 attempts and finished with 8 blocks. Sophomore Transfer Kylie Naylor also had a nice week adding 17 kills of her own. All three matches were won in straight sets putting their season record at 14-1 overall.
This week the Wood Ducks travel to the University of Northwestern (St. Paul) to play their reserve team at 530pm on September, 12. Then on Saturday, September 16, they will travel to face off against MCAC Division opponent, and #14 ranked, Minnesota West. This will be a fun matchup between the two teams atop the MCAC South standings.
