Century College Volleyball Head Coach Kam Announces Resignation

WHITE BEAR LAKE, MN – May 12, 2025 –Century College announces that Head Volleyball Coach Kam has made the decision to step down from his position, concluding a dedicated and impactful chapter with the Century College Wood Ducks.

Coach Kam has served as a passionate leader and mentor during his tenure, starting the volleyball program from scratch and elevating it through his commitment to student-athlete development, both on and off the court. Under his leadership, the volleyball program achieved immediate success, including appearances in the last 3 NJCAA national tournaments where they finished 4th, 2nd, and 4th nationally. Coach Kam finishes his career at Century College with a record of 96-44. He was named NJCAA Region 13A and North Plains A District Coach of the Year in both 2022 and 2023, and

MCAC South Division Coach of the Year in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

"It has been an incredible honor to lead the Century College Volleyball program. I have great appreciation for the college and staff for giving me the opportunity." says Coach Kam. "The goal was never to win, but to create experiences. I'm so proud of what we've built together – a culture of resilience, hard work, and heart. While this decision was not easy, I believe it's the right time to step aside." says coach Kam. To all his athletes, "Thank you for all for the memories and lessons learned. The joy and dedication you brought has built this program to what it is today. The foundation is set and I'm excited to see where the program goes from here."

Century College Athletic Director Dwight Kotila expressed gratitude for Coach Kam's contributions: "Coach Kam started this program a few years ago, and did an amazing job.  We knew Jay was the right person to launch this program and he did so by bringing passion and integrity to our volleyball program. He's made a lasting impression on the athletes and our athletic department, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors."

The college will begin a search for a new head volleyball coach immediately. Assistant coaches and athletics staff will support the program during the transition.
