Century College Wins Region XIII A and North Plains District A Volleyball Championship!

The Wood Ducks hosted the Region XIII A/North Plains District A Championships on October 28th and 29th. They defeated nationally ranked #5 Central Lakes College in four sets (30-28, 25-13, 23-25, 25-21) in the semi-finals and defeated #9 Rochester Community and Technical College in three sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) in the Championship.

Freshman Gabrielle Schwirtz (Plato, MN) received all-tournament MVP honors. She finished the weekend with 77 assists, 23 digs, and 3 aces. Freshman Kiyomi Callahan (St Paul, MN) was selected to the all-tournament team with 20 kills, 17 digs, and 5 aces. Out of 66 attacking attempts, she only had 2 errors. Sophomore Emma Crandell also made the all-tournament team with 29 kills, 39 digs, and 6 blocks.

"I am proud of this team. They have worked hard all season and earned the opportunity to host the regional championship. We were undefeated at home all season so I knew we would have some confidence going into the weekend and to close it out in front of our family and friends was a lot of fun." – Coach Jay Kam
